MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
Oh I LOVE Christmas, Today is the last day of VBS and it’s the BEST day because we are learning about the Christmas story!
You know, The Shepherds and the sheep going to see the little baby Jesus in the manger. It is going to be so much fun!!!!
I just love Christmas! The Decorations, the lights (pulling out a box of decorations and starting to decorate) let’s put these there….and oh yeah we need some lights there and hmm…oh yeah presents we can’t have Christmas without presents!!
Oh look…over here there is a big box full of presents! Let’s open then and see what’s inside…I just LOVE Christmas and presents!
(Announcer brings out big box and pulls out a present) Look this present says  To: You, From: The Good Shepherd
Oh wow…this present is for me!! Should I open it? (wait for response)
Oh yeah, I am opening it right now! (open present )
Look! It’s a nativity scene!  Wow… and look there is a special envelop with it. I will open it and see what’s it says. It looks like some kind of invitation!
Wow, It is an invitation (clears throat and tries to sound official as he read the invitation)

Dear (Announcer’s name)
You are lovingly invited to know me. I would like to be your Savior and your friend. I have done everything to make this happen because I love you. Please accept my invitation!
With all my love,
The Good Shepherd (God)

Oh wow! Can you believe it? The Good Shepherd sent little old  me a personal invitation! That is so very special!
Today we are going to learn more about this. We are learning today that the Good Shepherd INVITES us to know Him! Keep your eyes open today. Maybe you will get your own personal present too!

Now let’s get that worship leader up here to lead us in some songs okay?

3)      Worship time:
Have the worship leader lead the kids in worship(2-3 songs):
Because the Bible Story is slightly shorter today, you could choose to add one or two extra songs.

4)       Offering Project
Explain to the kids where the money will be going that you collect during VBS. I have listed two sheep themed offering projects from Samaritan's purse for possible suggestions.  You could decide to earn enough to send a sheep to a needy family in the third world(or several), or do a boys vs girls contest, to see who can send the most Shoe Box Sheep. Make offering a fun challenge!

5)      Sheepology
Jake:         RUFF  Hi everyone! Wow, It looks nice and decorated up here today!  What’s this all about?
Announcer:            Hi Jake Merry Christmas! Today we are learning all about the Shepherds and the Sheep in the Christmas story!  Because we are celebrating Christmas, I bought you a special present!
Jake:         A present? For me?
Announcer:           Yeah Here (pulling out present) open it!
Jake:         (opening present) RUFF  Thanks! And brand new collar! (put the collar on) I love it!
Announcer:           You’re welcome Jake. I was hoping you would like it!
Jake:         It is so awesome I will work really hard and earn every penny it took for your to buy this for me.
Announcer:           What?
Jake:         Oh yeah I will work so, so hard that you will have all the money back that this collar cost you!
Announcer:           But Jake…it’s a gift. It’s free. It doesn’t cost you anything.
Jake:         Yeah but I got to earn the gift. I got to make sure it to give you every penny for the collar. Let’s see (digging around in his pocket) here! Here is a whole dollar! And I will get you some more I promise. Maybe you should hold to collar until I can get all the money to pay for it.  That would be better. (Hands collar back to the announcer)
Announcer:           (taking collar and acting confused and then  having a ‘light bulb thought) Wait Jake, you have been teaching us about sheepology all week but maybe today I need to teach you some humanology!
Jake:         Okay?
Announcer:           When people give a gift, they give it free. The person getting the gift doesn’t have to earn the gift of pay for it. They just have to receive it. That’s just the way it works.
Jake:          I don’t have to earn it?  It’s just free?   Well then what do I have to do?
Announcer:           Well you could take the gift and say thank you.
Jake:         That’s it?
Announcer:           Yep!
Jake:         Oh (taking gift and looking at it, then turning and looking at the announcer)  Ruff…Thank you.
Announcer:           You are welcome now let’s put on your collar and see how it looks!
(the two of them walk off the stage together)

8)      Bible Memory
Hi Kids! Today’s bible verse might not make a whole lot of sense for the Christmas story. But you just wait! By the end of our time at VBS today you will understand our verse!
Today’s verse is from
John 1:29  Behold the Lamb of  God who takes away the sin of the world.

Behold
(pointing)
the Lamb
(cradle a baby)
of God
(pointing up)
Who takes away
(act like your are taking something with both your hands)
the sin
(make ‘devil’ horns with your fingers on your head)
of the world
(make a ‘globe’ with your hands)
John 1:29
